Welcome to the TNCC website!

The TNCC was established as the 33rd State Campus Compact in March 2008 through a Learn and Serve America/CNCS grant. Through academic service-learning campus-community partnerships, TNCC strives to increase academic engagement, reduce the achievement gap, and address dropout prevention. Since its founding in March 2008, TNCC has leveraged over $11,000,000 in non-state funds making a substantial contribution to the economic development of communities across the state of Tennessee. To-date, TNCC has fielded 155 AmeriCorps*VISTAs and 12 have transitioned into permanent higher education staff. The TNCC is currently building consensus to develop a set of standards to ensure that its 29 active member institutions can best empower, support, and reward community engaged faculty through institutional procedures of review, promotion, and tenure.

A Tennessee General Assembly House of Representatives Joint Resolution No. 662 was passed and signed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Speaker of the Senate, and the Governor on March 22, 2012, recognizing the TNCC as a key state partner that is addressing issues of access, diversity, retention, graduation, and workforce development through academic service-learning and other forms of civic engagement. Lipscomb University, a leading contributor to student community engagement and economic growth in Tennessee, has served as TNCC's host institution since spring 2009.

The TNCC website is an important channel of communications between the TNCC central office and its member campuses and community partners. It provides information on the leadership, membership, and initiatives. It shares current opportunities, announcements, and resources. Member campuses may also register for upcoming events, read about on-going impact, and donate to support academic service-learning. Thank you!

Sincerely,
Mani S. Hull, Ed.D.
